2016 Family Goal

2016 Family Goal

Can you believe Christmas is already this week and 2016 the following?! Where did the year 2015 go? I think having children makes every day zoom by a little bit faster. I think about all the things I want to teach my kids like how to drive, cook a turkey, write thank you cards, be a respectful partner, a good friend, the list is endless, and I think that teaching them those skills is so far away, I will forever have babies … but that is just not the case. Days are just rolling into years and way too quickly. Well, before I get weepy that my children are growing too quickly, I will get to the point of the post! Our family has discussed at great length that we would like to challenge ourselves for the year 2016 and not purchase anything new. We have come up with a,few perimeters around buying a few things new for example, toiletries, undergarments, experiences and shoes. Basically every other item that doesn't fall under those categories will have to be sourced out used, or borrowed. We are really excited to try and make this goal work. There is such a disconnect from where our things come from and where they go when we are done with them it will be nice to borrow or give the item a second chance! I think for the most part buying used won’t be the challenge but making the time to buy used. I love buying clothes at Goodwill but do I love buying clothes at Goodwill with my Children in winter coats, hot, hungry, and getting crazy in the cart…. no. So the challenge will be to make the time to go by myself to take the time to sort through the isles of treasures for whatever I need. Reflecting on the year 2015 it was full of personal and parental growth, change and joy. I know 2016 has exciting things in store for our family as we continue to push ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves and whatever that may include!

May 2016 be an awesome year for everyone!
