Date Sweetened Banana Bread Recipe
Today is Election Day, Can you believe it?! We have only been waiting 3 1/2 years for this day... and by "we" I mean Canada. Up here in the Great North where the election has absolutely nothing to do with us at all. But here we all are, all eagerly awaiting the results and rooting for you know who... Trump. haha I kid. I kid! Oh my word, what a horrible joke. Fingers crossed the world doesn't end today!
In the mean time, today I had my eggs delivered from Bowden Farm. Fresh, free range, organic chicken eggs delivered to my door (and they take back all my egg cartons to be reused)! They are $4 a dozen and if you're in the market for some free range, organic frozen chicken breasts they come individually frozen in a recyclable plastic bag for $45 for 5 pounds of chicken. It is definitely worth checking them out. If you don't have a minimum $75 order for free delivery, partner up with some families in your neighbourhood! With all of these new eggs, I decided to do a little baking and searched for a date sweetened banana bread. We are trying desperately to cut down on the consumption of sugar in our house, left over Halloween candy is not helping! I found this recipe on a plant based diet blog, Jasmin would probably not approve of my egg using but next time I am definitely open to trying the flax egg supplement.
I found this beauty of a recipe on Pinterest and it is delicious. Kid's nap time, a coffee, and a slice of this bad boy is making for delightful afternoon! I also look forward to reading more of Jasmine's blog. Jasmine has such an interesting story about Veganism and her past eating disorder. Sometimes I think the Millennials are so crazy, I myself being one, about how we openly share so much on this world wide web. And then you think, wow, what an opportunity this has given others who might be struggling with the same thing, to connect and heal. There is such a wealth of knowledge to share on so many different platforms to break the silence on many different topics. Thanks for being so open and honest Jasmine, I'm sure the positive ripple effect you have caused is much greater than you think.
On a lighter note, I do know for certain though, I thank my LUCKY stars that Pinterest wasn't around when I got married... I would have a million glue gun burns, and paper cuts at that alter being the LEAST craftiest person ever. It would have been too much pressure.
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day yyc!!
