First things first, YYC you are beautiful this week! I know it is so foolish to think that spring is just around the corner, ( I have lived in Canada my whole life and I know I shouldn't be an amateur... ) but I am ever so hopeful that warmer weather is here to stay!
This is an extremely late post but I wanted to give a quick update on how team Sasquatch has been doing with garbage these days! Since October we have only had to throw out 2 garbages bags (kitchen, office, bathroom combined), and a few diaper genie bags full of disposable diapers. Our first garbage bag was October 27 - November 28th and our second garbage bag lasted us for two months November 28th - January 25th. Our most recent garbage was full of styrofoam packaging, hard crinkly plastic, random plastic bits from here and there, parchment paper, and other odd things you can't recycle. It's pretty wild to think with minimal effort we have drastically cut down on our waste. Besides composting the biggest change of all has simply been ... mindfulness. Creating an awareness within our family of what comes in and out waste wise has allowed us to make the necessary changes towards creating a zero waste home. Don't get me wrong, we still make mindful decisions that lead to waste usually when we are hungry, rushed, or haven't planned accordingly but our awareness has helped us reevaluate those choices and try to learn from them to see where areas of improvement can be made. I think we are on a great path towards helping out this beautiful world stay beautiful!
